Fishamble is an Irish theatre company that is passionate about discovering, developing and producing new plays of national importance with a global reach, while championing the role of the playwright. It harnesses the imaginative power of theatre to provide audiences with a diverse range of contemporary, compelling and heartfelt dramatic works, and typically supports over 50% of the writers of all new plays produced on the island of Ireland each year. Fishamble thinks nationally and reaches globally, touring its productions to audiences throughout Ireland, and to 20 other countries, and has received many awards in Ireland and internationally, including an Olivier Award.
Fishamble has earned a reputation as ‘a global brand with international theatrical presence’ (Irish Times), ‘forward-thinking Fishamble’ (New York Times), ‘acclaimed Irish company’ (Scotsman) and ‘excellent Fishamble…Ireland’s terrific Fishamble’ (Guardian) through touring its productions to audiences in Ireland as well as to England, Scotland, Wales, France, Germany, Iceland, Croatia, Belgium, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia, Turkey, Finland, USA, Canada, New Zealand and Australia. Fishamble has also transferred work Off-Broadway and to the West End. Awards for Fishamble productions include Olivier, Scotsman Fringe First, Herald Angel, Herald Archangel, Argus Angel, 1st Irish, The Stage, Adelaide Fringe, Forbes’ Best Theater, MAMCA, In Dublin, Stage Raw LA, and Irish Times Theatre awards, as well as Irish Writer’s Guild/ZeBBie and Stewart Parker Trust awards for many of its playwrights, and nominations for Total Theatre, Offie/Off West End and EMA awards. |
