Encore

...Where the show goes on.

Fishamble's Encore is a pilot educational programme and an opportunity to take theatre beyond the stage and engage in interactive and educational activity for young people. It is a developing community space for:
- those curious to learn more about Fishamble plays and performances
- Educators seeking curriculum based, interactive programming
- Students wishing to engage with theatre as part of their study

Encore will provide exclusive and engaging material, designed specially to accompany Fishamble productions. These resources are available to all and for each show will include:
- Digital streams of Fishamble productions
- Post show discussions
- Theatre maker talks and interviews
- Playscripts
- Education packs designed for the secondary school curriculum

We want to encourage all our audiences to feel empowered to explore the work of Fishamble and the broader themes of our plays. Because sometimes the best part of theatre is the conversations it sparks!

If this sounds like something for you please explore our Encore packs below and sign up to the Encore mailing list. If you are a teacher wishing to learn more about the Encore programme and how you can avail of digital recordings of previous Fishamble productions, please get in touch!

'The filmed play of Duck Duck Goose and the accompanying workshops and lessons plans,
are an excellent resource for Senior Cycle.
Our 6th years watched the play and took part in a workshop with Fishamble.
Such has been the positive feedback from staff and students,
we have booked the initiative for our Transition Year, 5th year and 6th year students.
The initiative compliments the English, RE, RSE and Social Education curricula.'
Máire O'Higgins
Assistant Principal and Chaplain, Larkin Community College.

The Treaty by Colin Murphy
One hundred years ago, a small group of untested politicians left Dublin for London, to negotiate for Irish independence with one of the most formidable delegations ever put together. The Irish were seeking to take back control; the British believed they were stronger together. The Unionists believed in a hard border on the island of Ireland; the Republicans wanted the border in the Irish Sea. The Irish wanted a hard exit from the British Empire; the British tried to tempt them with the Canada option. And overseeing it all was a prime minister nobody trusted, notorious for his wizardry. The Treaty is a history play for this moment.

Duck Duck Goose by Caitriona Daly
Duck, Duck, Goose follows the story of Chris Quinn, a young man who, in an attempt to help his friend, becomes deeply embroiled in a rape allegation. As the rules change, and confusion reigns supreme, Chris struggles between loyalty, love and doubt.

Full of moral ambiguity and psychological complexity, this viscerally-charged new play by Caitríona Daly constantly shifts our perspective on ideas of consent, trust, and trial by social media.

OUTRAGE by Deirdre Kinahan
Following the story of two sisters, OUTRAGE is a play that explores the true nature of women’s role in the Irish revolutionary wars and in particular the Civil War in 1922.

Alice and Nell play key roles in organising civic resistance and the propaganda war. They are fervent, they are funny, they are human and they - like everyone else in Ireland - become deeply conflicted as the country spins toward a shattering Civil clash that split the nation, and continues to haunt Irish politics, society and culture to this day.

OUTRAGE challenges the historical narrative we have all grown up with.

OUTRAGE is written out of the true testimony of women we have never heard about.
OUTRAGE is a theatrical hurricane of empathy, action and truth.
Fishamble's Inside the GPO by Colin Murphy was a must-see cultural event at the heart of the 1916 commemorations.

This unprecedented documentary drama, directed by Jim Culleton, was a once-in-a-century opportunity to experience the Easter Rising, in the main hall of the GPO itself.

Audiences witnessed the rebel leadership navigate the perils of the Rising across the five days during which they occupied the GPO.
