At Fishamble Theatre Company CLG, we’re committed to protecting your privacy. So we treat all personal data entrusted to us with the highest degree of security and confidentiality. This Statement summarises how we manage the personal information that is collected when you interact with Fishamble through our website, and any other interaction.

GDPR Compliance
All data is gathered and processed in accordance with data protection legislation, including the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) effective 25 May 2018, and future implementing legislation in Ireland.

Fishamble Theatre Company as a Data Controller
Fishamble operates as a Data Controller, determining the purposes and means of processing personal data.

Data collected
Direct Interactions
You may give us your identity, contact and financial data by filling in forms or by corresponding with us by post, phone, email or otherwise.

Website
Our website does not store or capture any personal information at all. The system only logs an IP address along with other information provided by the visitor’s browser. This may include the name and version of the browser and operating system, country from where you are browsing from, and any website address that referred you to our website. This information is only used for producing anonymous website statistics to help us improve the delivery of our online services.
Our website system asks you to provide personal data if you do the following:
  • Join Fishamble as a member through a PayPal payment process
  • Register or buy tickets for an event
  • Fill in a GDPR-compliant newsletter sign-up form
  • Use the email option provided on various pages for contacting us
Cookies
When you visit the pages of our website, a small text file called a ‘cookie’, is downloaded onto your computer. This is a session cookie. It only remains on your computer until you close your browser. This cookie is not used to identify you personally in any way. We use this type of cookie to collect aggregated website statistics that allow us to understand how visitors use the site. All the information collected is anonymous and is only used to analyse usage and improve services.
If you prefer, you can visit and view our site without cookies by adjusting your browser settings. If you do disable cookies, some site functions might not work correctly.

Mailing List
We collect your personal information when you decide to interact with us. This is generally when you sign up to receive emails from us, and consent to receive news about our latest productions, tour dates and various activities and projects. We use MailChimp to deliver our newsletter and gather statistics around email opening and clicks using their insight tools to help us monitor and improve our newsletter. Social Media
Depending on your settings or the privacy policies for social media services like Facebook, Instagram or Twitter, we may access to your personal information on those accounts when you message us. We also collect and track anonymised data on our social media audiences to better understand the profiles and behaviour of people who engage with us online. For more information on how to control your privacy settings for these services, make sure you read the Terms & Conditions of the relevant social media platform.

How data is used
We will only use your personal data when the law allows us to. Most commonly, we will use your personal data in the following circumstances:
  • Where we need to perform the contract we are about to enter into or have entered into with you.
  • Through use of our website: Information collected by Fishamble’s website is only used for monitoring purposes unless you give us consent for your information to be used in particular ways. These might include providing your email address and information about you or your organisation so that we can contact and mail you, joining as a member, registering for an event, and receiving updates about our work and events.
  • For corresponding with our supporters: Fishamble stores the contact information of members of its Friends programme, supporters and sponsors, in order to send regular correspondence containing information relevant to the programme.
  • Marketing: Where you have specifically consented to our use of the personal data, for example to sending direct marketing communications to you via email.  You have the right to withdraw your consent to marketing at any time by unsubscribing from our newsletter or contacting us.
We ensure that all personal information supplied is held securely, in accordance with the requirements of the relevant Irish legislation, namely the Irish Data Protection Act (1988), and the Irish Data Protection (Amendment) Act (2003). Fishamble never sells or rents personal data to third parties. We will not share your personal information with an unauthorised third party unless required to do so by law.

Authorised data processors
Fishamble contracts with trusted third parties in order to provide certain services.
  • PayPal – We use PayPal to process our online payments for our Friends Programme and Donations. On Fishamble’s behalf, PayPal processes all payment information strictly in accordance with PayPal’s Privacy Policy.  Paying a membership subscription means that we obtain limited information about the payment card, such as the last four digits of the card number, the country of issue and expiry date, from PayPal our payment processor.
  • Eventbrite – We use Eventbrite to process online payments for occasional events and for registering for free Fishamble events. On Fishamble’s behalf, Eventbrite processes all payment information strictly in accordance with Eventbrite’s Privacy Policy.   
  • MailChimp – We use this email address management and message sending service provided by MailChimp. This service facilitates the collection and storage of contact details that allows us to create distribution lists and send emails. All data storage and usage is done strictly in accordance with MailChimp’s Privacy Policy.
  • Weebly – We use Weebly to manage our website. Weebly processes all visitor information strictly in accordance with Weebly’s Privacy Policy.    

Employment with Fishamble Theatre Company

If you work directly for Fishamble Theatre Company, we may also need to collate your personal information in order to carry out the work of the Company and to run our tours effectively.
The personal data we use may include:
  • Full name
  • Gender
  • Contact details (phone numbers, full addresses, email addresses) for touring management
  • Date of birth, bank details, PPS number, passport information, emergency contact information for contractual purpose and other legal requirements
  • Education, professional qualifications, work history and references
We do not share your information unnecessarily and without your prior consent. In order to ensure a smooth run of our touring and learning activities, we may share your information with:
  • Government bodies and agencies worldwide for the purposes of travel visas, payments, and other necessary employment-related procedures
  • International presenters who host the Company productions
  • International representatives of the Company

Transfers outside the EEA
Personal data collected from you may be transferred to recipients described above who may be in countries located outside the European Economic Area (“EEA”) which do not provide a similar or adequate level of protection to that provided by countries in the EEA. Transfers to third parties will be made in accordance with applicable data protection laws (e.g. under a Model Contract or the EU-US Privacy Shield).
Where we have collected your personal information to meet a legal obligation (e.g. PPS numbers, visa application forms) we will hold your data in accordance with the retention periods given by legal and regulatory bodies.

Data breaches
At Fishamble, we take the necessary measures to ensure your personal data is protected including encryption, password protection and physical safeguards. In the unlikely event of a significant data breach, Ireland’s Data Protection Commissioner and all affected individuals will be notified within the required legal time frame.

Your rights
You have many legal rights when it comes to the personal data you provide to us. These include the right to withdraw your consent at any time, to know what data is being held about you, to request the removal of your personal data from our records and to have this action completed in a timely manner, to object to certain processing of your data, to restrict how your data is used and to lodge a complaint about the handling of your data with a supervisory authority.
