The Transatlantic Commissions Programme is a collaboration between Fishamble: The New Play Company, Dublin and Irish Repertory Theatre, New York in association with The Apollo, Harlem. The initiative was launched in 2022 with the mission to support and foster diverse voices in Irish Theatre by commissioning Black Irish writers and artists of colour to create new works. We are delighted to be running this programme again with such a wonderful cohort of artists and collaborators.
The four selected participants will work under the mentorship of playwright/producer, and Director of New Works at The Apollo, Kelley Girod to write new full-length plays. Additional
dramaturgical support will be offered by Gavin Kostick, Literary Manager at Fishamble, and
Nicola Murphy Dubey, Director of New Play Development at Irish Repertory Theatre.
The commission will culminate in public staged readings of the plays in Dublin and New
York.
Previous Transatlantic Commission Programme artists include: Kwaku Fortune, CN Smith, Jade Jordan and FELISPEAKS.
