Fishamble’s Aims
In 2021, Fishamble moved its script submissions system online. We hope, by doing this, to:
- discover new voices;
- allow greater accessibility;
- offer some thoughts and guidance as to how best develop your play;
- where appropriate, offer some thoughts as to how you might pursue your writing/project further.
Fishamble seeks to tell stories of Ireland, and to engage with a wide range of communities, through discovering, developing and producing plays by writers living on the island of Ireland and Irish writers living abroad. It aims to explore contemporary Ireland through bringing a diverse range of voices to the stage.
Fishamble is committed to gender equality and produces an equal number of plays by men and women, as well as works by non-binary writers.
Fishamble believes society is best served by a variety of voices and viewpoints on the stage. To this end we seek demographic information in your submissions to seek variety and inclusion in our work and in our supports and projects.
Fishamble aims to facilitate the development of new plays in the Irish language. Fishamble welcomes work written either entirely in Irish, or that engages meaningfully with the language.
