The text and characters were devised by Fishamble actors Oonagh McLoughlin and Stephen Swift and Theatre Newfoundland Labrador actors Deidre Gilling-Rowlings and Robert Thorne. This process, under the supervision of Jeff Pitcher and Gavin Kostick, involved e-mail correspondence over 6 months, across 2 continents, 8 time zones and 1 ocean!
The result was a unique, 40-minute theatrical experience, which explored distance, roots and contact. The work-in-progress involved a simultaneous live performance via web-cam in Dublin and Corner Brook, Newfoundland.
This project was made possible with the generous support of the Ireland Newfoundland Partnership. A number of directing exchanges between Jeff Pitcher and Fishamble's Artistic Director, Jim Culleton, have taken place over the past two years, with the aid of the Canada Council.
